Brewer’s yeast and stones
Recently practicing bodybuilding, I would have liked to do a beer yeast cure: I read that it was a good source of protein. My problem is that I am prone to kidney stones (we think calcium because we could never determine) … so my question is simple: can we take brewer’s yeast when we easily have kidney stones or is it a food to be avoided ?
Thank you for your guidance.
I think brewer’s yeast shouldn’t be a problem when you’re prone to kidney stones. I know that vitamin C in high doses is contraindicated in case of stones and calcium supplements probably too. You would do well to protect your kidneys because maybe they have to suffer with your stones. I’m telling you this too because a high protein consumption increases the workload for the kidneys and this may eventually tire them and make them sick. But let’s not panic
I will advise you to be careful anyway. I have the same problem, brewer’s yeast has never given me a seizure strictly speaking but on the other hand it facilitates urinary tract infections …
