I bought MACULA Z for the eyes, in the composition it is noted:
vitamin C 60 mf, zinc 15 mg, vitamin E 10 mg, lutein 10 mg, zeaxanthin 2 mg, copper 1000 µg,
fish oil 400 mg (including DHA 200 mg, EPA 40 mg).
of natural origin ???
but qd they do not specify the fish, we can deduce what?
and how can the vitamin a level be calculated?
if anyone can help me
Age-Related Macular Degeneration is favored by poor eating habits.
Omega 3 fatty acids are present in the photoreceptors of the retina and allow their renewal and their proper functioning for vision. They are found mainly in fish and more especially in fatty fish (salmon, herring, mackerel, tuna…)
The carotenoid pigments (lutein and zeaxanthin) of food are incorporated in the macula and play a role of sun filter. They are not synthesized by our body. Their contribution is therefore exclusively food. Spinach and kale are the ones that provide the most, but they are found in many green vegetables and also in egg yolks.
Antioxidant micronutrients prevent oxidation reactions that lead to damage to retinal cells. The main ones are vitamin E, vitamin C, selenium, zinc but also beta-carotene and polyphenols (tea, cocoa, wine, nuts, fruits, vegetables and soya contain them). The other micro-nutrients with an antioxidant effect are the carotenoids found in carrots, tomatoes, melon, watermelon, guava, grapefruit …
By avoiding tobacco and overweight and having a varied diet you will not need to take something else.
If you have a family history of AMD and you are at risk, try to consume omega 3 and see with your eye doctor if it is useful to take supplements at doses higher than the recommended daily allowance.
thank you for your explanations
the dosage in this supplement is well above the recommended daily allowance?
If you talk about the dose of vitamin A, hard to say, we do not even know which fish it is. However, the richest oil in vitamin A is cod liver oil.
To have your daily ration of vitamin A it is enough to have a balanced and varied food, knowing that in an egg yolk, a little butter, Camembert, Roquefort, you have a significant amount of vitamin A.
Personally I take a product called “visioforte” intended for the sight and in no case in the ingredients there is mention of fish oil …
