Warning of the DGCCRF concerning food supplements Hydroxycut
Hydroxycut is a range of food supplements. These products are offered by the manufacturer with the claims “to lose weight”, and “to increase energy level”.
Several cases of damage in particular hepatic, but also muscular, cardiac and neurological, sometimes serious, have been reported in the United States and Canada after consumption of certain products belonging to the range.
The health authorities of the United States (FDA) and Canada (Health Canada) have just recommended stopping the consumption of these products, some of which have been withdrawn from the market by the manufacturer.
The undesirable effects observed could be due to the presence in the products of components derived from ingredients and plant extracts at dosages which may produce negative effects on health.
The FDA and Health Canada are currently reviewing this point.
The marketing in France of all the products of the Hydroxycut range is not authorized. However, their consumption cannot be excluded, in particular because they are likely to be accessible on the Internet.
Consequently, the French authorities advise against the consumption of these products
