protein is what makes you make the fiber of your muscle, so yes a daily consumption of around 2g / kg of body is recommended to build muscle mass.
Now it is also advisable to find this protein supply through nutrition but it is true that in powder it is practical .. the best for the proteins is to taste it to know if you digest it well but in general I Do not recommend cheap protein made from soy protein because it is not really a good quality for intensive muscle building.
and for when you stop i didn’t really notice but yes your metabolism takes energy on your muscle mass so if you don’t maintain a high protein level then there will be a loss of muscle mass but you are already happy to prepare yourself good meals and choose foods rich in protein and you will not see the difference if you stop the powder!
